Recommendation Details - Arable
1. Purpose of the Page
The Recommendation Details page provides a full record of crop nutrient recommendations for a specific farm and year. It is designed to help users:
- Review soil and crop nutrient requirements.
- Record manure applications and fertiliser plans.
- Track nutrient balances and compliance with closed periods.
- Optimise fertiliser use for efficiency and sustainability.
2. Key Sections
🔹 Field Information
- Field Name / Area (Ha) – e.g., 0533 → 3.37 ha.
- Soil Type & pH – recorded for some fields (e.g., Field 0869 → pH 6.2).
- Nutrient Indices (P, K, Mg) – soil test values for each field.
- Previous Crop – e.g., Spring Triticale.
- Grass History – whether grass was present in the last 3 harvest years.
🔹 Crop Details
- Crop Group: Forage.
- Crop Name: Forage Maize.
- Sowing Date: 01/03/2026.
- Expected Yield: 50 t/ha.
- Crop Offtake: Nutrient removal (e.g., Pâ‚‚Oâ‚…: -70 kg/ha, Kâ‚‚O: -220 kg/ha).
🔹 Nutrient Requirements
- Pulled from RB209 guidance.
- Example requirements:
- N: 55 kg/ha
- Pâ‚‚Oâ‚…: 175 kg/ha
- Kâ‚‚O: 175 kg/ha
- SO₃: 20 kg/ha
- MgO: 0 kg/ha
🔹 Advice Notes
- Lime: Reduce lime rate if stony soils (e.g., 20% stones → reduce lime by 20%).
- Nitrogen: Up to 10–15 kg N/ha may be placed below seed at drilling; balance top‑dressed.
- Phosphate: All phosphate may be placed below seed at drilling.
🔹 Manure Applications
- Records manure type, date, rate, and method.
- Example:
- Cattle slurry (6% DM) → 02/01/2026 → 10 m³/ha → Soil incorporated (6 hrs).
- Cattle slurry (6% DM) → 13/01/2026 → 50 m³/ha → Band spread.
- Nutrient contributions (N, P₂O₅, K₂O, SO₃, MgO) and emissions (CO₂e, NH₃ volatilisation) are shown.
🔹 Fertiliser Applications
- Records fertiliser type, supplier, rate, and nutrient content.
- Example:
- 01/05/2026 → Chafer 18‑9‑9 (Yara) → 333.33 l/ha → N=60, P₂O₅=30, K₂O=30.
- 01/07/2026 → Diamond 26N 37S (Thomas Bell) → 150 kg/ha → N=39, SO₃=55.5.
- Carbon footprint and ammonia volatilisation are tracked.
🔹 Nutrient Balances
- Net Crop Nutrient Requirements: Shows remaining needs after manure applications.
- Example: N = -20.3, Pâ‚‚Oâ‚… = -17.0, Kâ‚‚O = 25.0.
- Totals:
- From manures: N=156, P₂O₅=72, K₂O=150, SO₃=42, MgO=36.
- From fertilisers: N=146.5, P₂O₅=123.6, K₂O=201.6, SO₃=55.5.
- Balance: Pâ‚‚Oâ‚… surplus (+53.6), Kâ‚‚O deficit (-18.4).
🔹 Compliance
- Closed Periods:
- Organic manures: 1 Oct – 31 Jan.
- Fertilisers: 1 Sep – 15 Jan.
- Ensures applications are scheduled outside restricted windows.
3. How to Use This Page
